Plaza Minorista

Vast covered market with downstairs food stalls

Address Calle 56 No. 56-25

The city's main fresh market — a multi-storey covered hall north of downtown, walls of fruit and vegetables, fish and meat counters, and a basement food court where you can have a full lunch of soup, juice, and a plate of fish for the price of a coffee elsewhere. Not a tourist site, very much a working market; chaotic, loud, and one of the more interesting hours you can spend in the city. Best in the morning. Mind your wallet, don't carry valuables.
