Getting Around

The island is small enough to circuit in a few hours. Renting a moped or bicycle is the most enjoyable way to get around — you can do the full loop road (roughly 30 km) in an afternoon, stopping at beaches, the blowhole, and the west-coast snorkelling spots along the way. Moped rental agencies cluster near the town centre; bring your driving licence.

Mototaxis are cheap and plentiful for short hops. Shared minibuses run from the town centre to most parts of the island throughout the day. A taxi to the south end or west coast costs around COP 15,000–20,000 from town.

Boat transfers to Johnny Cay and El Acuario depart from the north harbour (Muelle Tonina) throughout the morning. Agree a return time with your boat operator.
