The obvious day trip from San Andrés is to Providencia — a 90-minute catamaran ride to an island that feels like a different world. Less developed, with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants and some of the finest diving in the western Caribbean, Providencia rewards those who can stay a night or two, but a long day is enough to explore its beaches and snorkel the surrounding reef.
