A private reserve in the Tandayapa valley, several hundred metres higher than Mindo and correspondingly wetter and colder, with a different set of birds for it. The plate-billed mountain toucan and the Tandayapa hummingbird list are the draw.
The building on the ridge is a bamboo-and-glass geodesic dome, which sounds like an affectation and turns out to be the best place in the valley to sit at dawn while cloud moves through the canopy below you.
Reached from the Calacalí–Nanegalito road. Note that the site footer prints two mobiles and, separately, the web designer's own — the WhatsApp link goes to the first of the reserve's.
