Mindo is a birding destination that happens to have ziplines. Something over five hundred species have been recorded in the valley, and the lodges below are working reserves with feeders, trails and resident guides rather than hotels that arrange trips.
The cloud forest starts at the edge of town, so the difference between lodges is mostly altitude — and altitude is what decides which birds you see.
