Ayahuasca

Cocktail bar in a converted 19th-century Barranco mansion

Ayahuasca, named after the Amazonian psychedelic vine, occupies a sprawling 19th-century casa-quinta in Barranco that has been converted into one of Lima's best cocktail bars. Three floors of high-ceilinged rooms, courtyards, and small terraces hold dozens of small tables; the cocktail list runs to several pages and features Peruvian ingredients — chicha morada, maca, aguaymanto, coca leaf — in serious classical drinks.

The pisco list is one of the deepest in Lima. Live DJ on weekends from 11pm. Busiest after 10pm; quiet earlier in the evening when it works as a date or after-dinner spot. Cover charge on Friday and Saturday.
