Pisco is a small city and the centre is easily walked. Mototaxis (three-wheeled motorcycle taxis) are the standard local transport and very cheap — a ride anywhere in town costs a sol or two. For longer trips to Paracas (15 kilometres south), shared colectivos run from the main road, or you can hire a private taxi.
For Tambo Colorado, hire a taxi for the day in Pisco or join a tour. Public transport to the site is slow and infrequent. Most Paracas and Islas Ballestas tours are organised from Pisco or from the Paracas waterfront, with early-morning departures to catch the best wildlife activity and calmer seas.
