Het Surinaamsch Rumhuis

Small distillery museum explaining Suriname's rum traditions, with guided tastings by arrangement

Het Surinaamsch Rumhuis is the visitor side of Suriname Alcoholic Beverages, the company behind Borgoe and other local rums. Displays and guided visits introduce the copper pot still, barrel making, blending, and the development of Surinamese rum before moving to a tasting.

The museum occupies a distinctive 1953 house on Cornelis Jongbawstraat. Visits, tastings, and mixology sessions run at specific times rather than as continuous walk-in opening, so check directly and reserve ahead. Come for the production story, not merely the samples.
