Former Tzedek ve-Shalom Synagogue

Historic Sephardic synagogue dating from Suriname's oldest Jewish community

Tzedek ve-Shalom was built for Paramaribo's Sephardic congregation in 1736. It stopped serving as a synagogue in 1999, when the remaining community consolidated at Neveh Shalom. The building has since been put to secular use, and much of its interior was transferred on long-term loan to the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

Treat this as an exterior historical stop, not an active synagogue or a museum with regular admission. For a functioning congregation and a visitable religious interior, contact Neveh Shalom instead.
