El Prado is Montevideo at its most leafy and unhurried: a district of parks, gardens, embassies, and old villas away from the riverfront rush. The area is associated with the Prado parklands and makes a good contrast to Ciudad Vieja and the Rambla.
Come for a relaxed walk, especially if you are interested in residential architecture or need a greener afternoon. It is not a single fenced attraction, so treat it as a district to explore rather than a sight with a fixed entrance.
