A Victorian iron market building near the port, now filled with parrilla restaurants that cook beef and sausages over charcoal fires. It is packed with locals and tourists at lunchtime on weekdays and weekends. The Mercado del Puerto is less a place to go for dinner and more an Uruguayan institution to experience once. Go at noon.
