Centro San Ignacio — known universally as the CSI — is the most fashionable shopping centre in Caracas: a multi-level complex in the heart of Chacao, with a terrace-cluster of restaurants and bars that fill up most evenings. By day it works as an upmarket mall with international brands, design boutiques, and a good supermarket; by night the terraces of bars and lounges along its eastern flank are the most reliable place in the city for an after-work drink.
A handful of small concept stores selling Venezuelan chocolate and rum on the lower levels make this the best one-stop shop for souvenirs. The complex includes an office tower and a small hotel, and is connected to the Chacao district by a network of pedestrian bridges that is more practical than walking the surrounding streets.
