Iglesia de la Chiquinquirá

The neo-Romanesque Church of the Chiquinquirá, on the boulevard of Sabana Grande, was built between 1939 and 1944 and is the main parish church of the eastern colonial-era district that gave Sabana Grande its name. The brick façade with its tall pointed gable looks more central-European than tropical and is one of the more recognisable buildings on the eastern half of the boulevard.

The interior is unfussy and the church is busiest on Sundays and the Marian feast of the Chiquinquirá (18 November). Open daily for mass; the surrounding street is reliably walkable by day.
