Coro's food scene is small and local. The standard fare is Caribbean coastal — fresh fish, plantain, casabe (cassava bread), and the local goat stew, chivo en coco, slow-cooked in coconut milk and a defining dish of Falcón state. The best sit-down meals tend to be in restaurants attached to small hotels on the edge of the historic centre; the quickest are at the lonchera stalls around the Plaza Bolívar.
