Maun has grown into a proper supply town and the shopping reflects it. Spar and Choppies supermarkets stock decent provisions for self-drive trips — dried goods, canned food, biscuits, and basic first aid items. For camping gas, jerrycans, and equipment, several hardware and outdoor stores on the main road cater to the 4WD overlander trade.
The craft market beside the Nhabe Museum is the best place to buy traditional Botswana basketwork — the region produces some of the finest woven baskets in Africa, with geometric patterns that take weeks to complete. Prices are fair and the weavers often work on site. Avoid the airport souvenir stalls, which charge multiples of the market rate for identical pieces.
For anything more specialised — spare parts, satellite phones, or medical supplies — pick up what you need before leaving Maun; smaller towns and bush camps have very limited stock.
