Commercial Avenue

The main street of central Bamenda, running through Up Station and down into Mankon, lined with shops, banks, churches, and the city's largest market. It is the busiest street in anglophone Cameroon and a good place to feel the pulse of the city — taxis blaring, traders shouting, students walking home from school.

Commercial Avenue is also the most politically charged street in the country: anglophone protest movements have repeatedly used it for marches since the 1990s, and the avenue has been the focus of crackdowns during the recent crisis.
