By air. Bamenda has a small airport at Bali, but commercial flights are intermittent — sometimes weekly to Douala or Yaoundé, sometimes nothing for months. Confirm before relying on it.
By road. The standard route is the long drive from Yaoundé or Douala — eight to ten hours either way over varying road quality, with the climb up the Bamenda escarpment as the dramatic final stretch. Long-distance buses (agencies like Vatican Express, Garanti, and Amour Mezam) run nightly. Daytime travel is recommended both for the views and for security.
Security. Since 2017 the anglophone regions have been in armed conflict between separatist groups and the Cameroonian state. Check current security advice before travelling. The road through Bafoussam is generally the safer approach from the south.
