Mankon Museum belongs with the Mankon palace complex, one of Bamenda's most important traditional institutions. Its displays preserve royal objects, masks, musical instruments, beadwork, and other material tied to Grassfields political and ritual life.
The museum is most meaningful when visited with local guidance or as part of a palace visit. It gives travellers a more respectful way to understand the fon's court and regional culture than simply photographing buildings from outside.
