Eating in Kribi means seafood — grilled fish, prawns, or "chinchard" (mackerel) served whole with plantain or chips and a tomato-and-onion sauce. The ritual is the same in every beach restaurant: pick your fish from the cool box, agree a price, and wait twenty minutes while it cooks over a charcoal fire under a thatched shelter.
The cluster of beachside restaurants along the road south of town, between Kribi and Grand Batanga, is where most travellers eat. There are also a few more formal places attached to the larger hotels in town if you want air conditioning and a wine list.
