Dokki Nile Corniche

The quieter west-bank corniche stretch with sunset views across to Gezira Island

The Nile corniche along Dokki's eastern edge provides a different perspective on the river than the more visited east bank — looking across at Gezira Island, the Cairo Opera House, and the Cairo Tower from the western side. The walk from the Gamaa Bridge north to the Imbaba Bridge covers several kilometres and passes through various states of the waterfront: residential corniche, small boat clubs, and informal fishing spots.

The Dokki corniche is most pleasant in the evening, when the heat has subsided and the lights of Gezira and Zamalek reflect in the water. Several informal tea sellers and juice stalls operate along the walk. The section near the Sofitel hotel has a small park and the best seating.
