Eating Out

Sharm el-Sheikh has a surprisingly diverse food scene for a beach resort. Na'ama Bay's promenade is lined with restaurants serving everything from Egyptian seafood and grilled meats to Indian, Thai, Chinese, Italian, and Lebanese cuisine. Quality varies — the best restaurants are genuinely good, the worst are tourist traps serving overpriced mediocrity.

Na'ama Bay

Little Buddha in Na'ama Bay is one of the better options for Asian food, mixing Japanese, Thai, and Chinese dishes in a stylish setting. For seafood, the restaurants along the waterfront display the day's catch at the entrance so you can point at what you want before it's cooked — a system that usually produces good results. Abou El Sid serves traditional Egyptian food including mezze, grilled meats, and slow-cooked dishes at reasonable prices (note that prices on the menu sometimes exclude service and tax). Hard Rock Café is reliable for a casual meal and draws a lively crowd.

The Old Market

The street-food stalls in the Old Market (Sharm el-Maya) offer the cheapest and most local eating in Sharm. A meal of grilled fish, rice, and salad for two costs a few dollars. The atmosphere is lively if you can navigate the shopkeepers, and the food is often better than anything you'll find in the tourist restaurants.

International Fast Food

Pizza Hut, KFC, and McDonald's are all present in Na'ama Bay for those in need of a fallback. They're not recommended when local alternatives are nearby and inexpensive, but they are there.
