Getting around Sharm el-Sheikh is straightforward. The city is spread out along the coast, so walking works for short distances within Na'ama Bay but not between neighbourhoods.
Taxis
Taxis are the most common way to get around and are plentiful ā raising your hand almost anywhere will produce one within seconds. Use only the blue-and-white licensed taxis; avoid unlicensed vehicles. Always negotiate the fare before you get in, as meters are rarely used. Short trips within Na'ama Bay should cost a few Egyptian pounds; longer trips across town cost more.
Buses
Local minibuses run between Sharm el-Maya (the Old Market), Na'ama Bay, and Sharks Bay for EĀ£1ā2 per trip. They are crowded and don't run to a fixed schedule, but they're cheap and generally reliable for the main route.
Rental Cars and Quad Bikes
Car rental is available from hotels and agencies in Na'ama Bay. Driving in Sharm is manageable by Egyptian standards. Quad bikes can be rented for desert excursions ā ask at your hotel.
