Fresh juice is one of the everyday pleasures of Ethiopian cities, and Mule's Juice is one of Jimma's most popular spots for it. The highland location means the fruit is good: avocado, mango, papaya, and passion fruit feature, often blended together in layered combinations that are more meal than drink.
The place is small and often busy — a queue at lunchtime is not unusual — but the juices are worth the wait. It is the kind of local institution that has been serving the same neighbourhood for years without needing to change anything. A large juice here costs very little and is one of the better things you can do with a few birr in the city.
