Founded in 1969, the National Archives hold the documentary record of the Gabonese state and its colonial predecessor. Access is for accredited researchers — walk-in tourists will not get past the front desk — but the building itself, a low concrete structure off the road inland from the boulevard, is a quiet piece of mid-century institutional architecture.
