The country's main public university, founded in 1970 as the National University of Gabon and renamed for its second president in the 1980s. The campus is in the north of the city and is more of interest for its scale and atmosphere — twenty-thousand-plus students milling between concrete teaching blocks — than for any particular building.
Worth a quick look if you are already in the neighbourhood for the arboretum.
