Winneba is a useful stopping point between Accra and Cape Coast. Cape Coast and Elmina, with their UNESCO-listed slave-trading castles, are about an hour west along the coast and easily combined as a full day. Kokrobite, the small beach village with the Academy of African Music, is around 40 minutes back toward Accra.
