The Musee des Civilisations de Cote d'Ivoire, commonly called the National Museum, sits in the Plateau district and holds one of West Africa's more important ethnographic collections. The strength is in traditional masks and wooden sculpture from the Dan, Baoule, and Senufo peoples, along with textiles, pottery, and musical instruments.
The building itself is modest and the labeling can be sparse, but the quality of the objects makes up for it. Allow an hour or so. It's an easy stop while exploring Plateau on foot.
