Grand-Bassam is about 40 kilometres east of Abidjan, making it an easy day trip or a short overnight excursion from the city.
From Abidjan, shared taxis (woro-woro) and minibuses run regularly from the Gare de Bassam near the Treichville market. The journey takes around an hour depending on traffic, which on weekday mornings can be considerable on the Abidjan side. Departures are most frequent in the morning and early afternoon. A private taxi from central Abidjan takes around 40 minutes.
There is no direct bus service to Assini from Grand-Bassam, but shared taxis and bush taxis run east along the coast road, passing through Grand-Bassam on their way.
