Bali Beach

Long sandy beach west of the port, popular with locals

Bali Beach is the closest and most easily reached of San-Pédro's beaches, a long arc of sand and palm trees about 3km west of the city centre. The waves are moderate and good for swimming in the calmer months. On weekends it fills with families from the city; during the week you can find stretches of sand nearly to yourself.

The beach has a cluster of simple restaurants and stalls at its eastern end — the grilled tilapia and barracuda served here come off the boats that morning. A cold Flag or 33 Export beer while watching the fishing canoes come in is a decent way to spend an afternoon. The walk along the beach westward toward the Monogaga lagoon area takes about an hour and passes through quieter, more remote-feeling sections.

A story
Bali Beach (Plage de Bali) stretches for several kilometres west of San-Pédro's port and is one of the most visited beaches on Ivory Coast's southwestern coast. Despite its popularity among locals, it rarely feels crowded. The beach is named after the Indonesian island — an optimistic comparison, but the long arc of sand, warm Atlantic water, and coconut palms make a reasonable case. Vendors sell grilled fish and cold Flag beer from shacks along the shore.
