The best time to visit is during the dry season, from November to March. January is the peak month — skies are clear, temperatures sit around 25–30°C, and travel between towns is easy on dry roads. This is also harmattan season, when a dusty wind blows in from the Sahara. It cools things down slightly but can create a hazy atmosphere, especially in the north.
The south has two rainy seasons: the main rains fall from May to July, followed by a shorter wet spell in September and October. The north has a single rainy season that runs from roughly June to September. During these months torrential downpours can make rural tracks impassable and are best avoided for road trips into the interior.
The west around Man and the forest region is green year-round but most accessible in the dry months. Yamoussoukro and Abidjan function well in any season, but coastal humidity in the wet months can be punishing.
If you are targeting specific festivals, note that the Fête du Dipri takes place in April — technically the edge of the dry season — in the village of Gomon near Agboville.
