Swahili House Museum

A small museum tucked into the alleys behind the seafront, restored as a typical 18th-century Swahili merchant's house. The rooms are arranged the way they would have been used — outer reception, inner family quarters, kitchen courtyard — and furnished with carved beds, cooking pots, and trade goods.

It is a quick visit (30 minutes or so) but a good complement to the larger Lamu Museum, and especially worthwhile if you are then going to wander the streets and look at the carved doors and façades from a more informed point of view.
