Motorcycle taxis (known locally as "pen-pen") are the quickest and cheapest way to get around the city. Agree on the fare before you get on — ask a local what the going rate should be, as drivers sometimes quote higher prices to unfamiliar visitors.
Taxis are more comfortable and are the better choice for longer journeys or at night. Shared taxis run fixed routes at fixed prices; private hire costs more but is straightforward to negotiate.
Buses are cheap but very crowded and not well suited to visitors unfamiliar with the routes.
