The obvious day trip from Zomba is the Zomba Plateau directly above the city — a 2,000-metre forested massif with viewpoints, waterfalls, trout streams, and walking trails that range from short strolls to multi-day circuits. The drive up the winding road from town takes 30 to 40 minutes and is a part of the experience in its own right.
