Azemmour rewards slow exploration. The medina is small enough to walk in an hour but interesting enough to fill an afternoon, and the views of the ramparts from across the Oum er-Rbia river are among the best in Morocco for Portuguese colonial fortifications. There are almost no other tourists, which makes it a genuinely different experience from El Jadida or Essaouira.
