Bars and Cafes

Errachidia has no bar scene to speak of — this is a conservative town in the Muslim southeast, and alcohol is not sold openly. What the town does have is a good supply of street-level cafes serving mint tea, coffee, and fresh orange juice. These are the social hubs of the place: men play cards and dominoes through the afternoon heat, and the cafes around Place Hassan II and the central market stay busy until late.

The French influence left a habit of long breakfasts with coffee and msemen (pan-fried flatbread) or beghrir (semolina pancakes with honey), and several cafes near the market do this well in the mornings.
