The reason most travellers stop in Errachidia is to use it as a base for the Ziz Valley and the desert beyond. The Ziz Gorges and the Source Bleue de Meski are easy half-day trips. For the dunes of Erg Chebbi, Merzouga is about 130 km south — doable in a day but better as an overnight in a desert camp. Rissani, with its souk and the ruins of the Alaouite capital of Sijilmassa, deserves a half-day stop on the way.
