Officially named Moulay Ali Cherif Airport (ERH), this small facility serves as the gateway to the Ziz Valley and the Tafilalet oasis region. Royal Air Maroc operates regular flights from Casablanca, taking about an hour. The airport is roughly 3 km northwest of town.
Facilities are minimal — don't expect much beyond a check-in counter and a small waiting area. Grands taxis wait outside arrivals and will take you into town or onward to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes, about 130 km to the southeast. Negotiate the fare before getting in.
If your schedule doesn't align with the limited flight timetable, the alternative is a long but scenic bus or shared taxi ride from Fez or Marrakech, each roughly eight hours.
