Ancient Roman and Merinid ruins in a garden setting

Just outside the modern city — the ruins of the town Rabat abandoned in the 12th century. Roman columns, a Merinid-era mosque and medersa, and the tombs of the Merinid sultans, all wrapped in a jasmine-and-orange-tree garden. Storks nest on top of the minaret. One of the best archaeological sites in northern Morocco.
