Getting Around

On foot — The medina, Kasbah des Oudaya, Hassan Tower, and the Ville Nouvelle are all walkable from each other. This compact core takes about 30 minutes to cross end to end.

Petit taxis — Blue petit taxis go anywhere in the city. They are metered (insist on the meter, or fix a price first). A ride across town should cost 20–40 dirhams. Chellah and Agdal are a short taxi ride from the centre.

Tram — Rabat's modern tramway runs through the Ville Nouvelle and connects the city to Salé across the Bou Regreg. Cheap and reliable; buy a ticket at the stop.

To Salé — Take the tram across the Hassan II Bridge, or take the old ferry from near the Kasbah des Oudaya. Grand taxis also cover the route; as always in Morocco, make sure you're sharing and not renting the whole vehicle.
