Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art

Morocco's premier modern art museum, with the country's best permanent collection

Opened in 2014, this is the most important modern and contemporary art museum in Morocco and one of the best on the African continent. The permanent collection spans Moroccan art from the early 20th century to the present — from the expressionist painters who trained in Paris in the 1950s to video and installation work by younger artists. Temporary exhibitions are large-scale and well-curated. The building itself, a converted colonial-era post office on the edge of the Ville Nouvelle, is worth seeing. Entrance fee around 60 dirhams; closed Tuesdays.
