Windhoek's nightlife is modest by capital-city standards. The action centres on Independence Avenue and a handful of bars in the Klein Windhoek and Eros suburbs. Live music — jazz, kwaito, marrabenta from Mozambique — turns up most weekends, but rarely until late.
Most cafes open by 8am and close before sunset. The local Windhoek Lager and the heavier Tafel Lager are everywhere; South African and German imports fill the gaps. Don't expect tourist-bar prices: a beer in most places runs 25-40 Namibian dollars.
