Kano's Old City holds some of the most compelling sights in West Africa. The walled city with its 16 gates concentrates the main attractions into a walkable area — the Emir's Palace, the Great Mosque, the Gidan Makama Museum, and the ancient Kofar Mata dye pits are all within easy reach of each other. The Kurmi Market makes for a good anchor point for exploring on foot.
