La Passe

La Passe is the island's main settlement and the point where ferries from Praslin and Mahe arrive. It is not picturesque in the way that the beaches and granite landscapes are, but it has a relaxed, genuine village atmosphere that rewards a slow wander. The dock area has bicycle rentals, a few small grocery shops, and the island's most convenient cluster of guesthouses and restaurants.

The village extends a short way in either direction from the dock. North of the jetty, the coast path leads past coconut palms toward Anse Réunion, a small sheltered beach good for an early-morning swim before the day-trippers arrive. The best time to be in La Passe is in the late afternoon when the ferries have returned to Praslin and the village settles back into its own quiet rhythm.
