Notre Dame de l'Assomption Church

La Digue's main Catholic church stands near the ferry dock at La Passe, its white facade and pale blue trim a familiar sight from the sea. It is modest in scale but holds a certain warmth — the interior is simply furnished, with coloured glass that throws patches of light across the tiled floor.

Masses are still held regularly, and local weddings often take place here. For a traveller, the church is worth a brief look as part of a walk through La Passe; it is one of the oldest buildings still in regular use on the island, and sitting in the cool interior for a few minutes while island life moves past outside is a pleasant pause from the heat.
