Side Street Studios

Three converted Albert Road buildings packed with artist studios and galleries

Side Street Studios is a network of three repurposed industrial buildings on and around Albert Road — at numbers 48 and 139 — now home to more than fifty resident artists, designers and musicians. The buildings were derelict before they were converted, and the studios retain a rawer, less polished feel than the more retail-focused Woodstock Exchange nearby; this is a working artists' space first, with a public-facing gallery and occasional open studios where you can talk to the people making the work.

The exteriors are part of Woodstock's street art circuit in their own right — a large eagle mural by the artist Sonnysundancer covers the front of the 139 Albert Road building, one of the more photographed pieces on the neighbourhood's informal mural trail. A small café operates on site for coffee between gallery stops. Hours vary by studio, but the ground-floor gallery and café keep regular weekday hours.
