Florida Road is the heart of Morningside, a kilometre-long avenue of Victorian and Edwardian houses converted into restaurants, bars and small shops. It is the centre of eating out and going out in Durban — sushi, Mediterranean, Italian, South African steakhouse, gourmet burgers and a string of cocktail bars, all within a 15-minute walk.
The street is at its best in the cooler evenings, when terraces fill up and street musicians work the crowd. Weekend nights, expect every place to be packed and parking impossible — Uber in. The renovated heritage houses are worth a look during the day too.
