King Shaka International Airport, 35km north of the city near La Mercy, handles all flights. Domestic flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town run roughly hourly through the day; international connections include London, Dubai and a handful of regional African cities. The airport is modern and easy.
A taxi or Uber into central Durban is around R350-R450; the Airport Bus runs a fixed-price service from the international arrivals door to several Durban and Umhlanga hotels. By long-distance bus, Greyhound and Intercape connect Durban to all major South African cities — the trip from Johannesburg is about eight hours. Rail services from Johannesburg run weekly on the Premier Classe but are slow.
