Most of Durban's drinking and dancing happens around Florida Road and Windermere Road in Morningside, with a string of bars, restaurants and clubs within walking distance of one another. The crowd is mixed and the vibe is laid-back compared to Johannesburg or Cape Town. Things start late and run very late — places that close at 2am are the early ones. Take a taxi back to your hotel; the suburbs are safe but the routes between them less so after dark.
