Victoria Street Market

Bustling Indian quarter market for spices, fabric, and brassware

The heart of Durban's old Indian quarter and the place to stock up on spices. Two floors of stalls selling masala blends, dried chillies, incense, fabric, brassware and souvenirs, with butchers and a small fish market downstairs. The current building dates from 1990 — the original market burned down — but the trading goes back to 1910. Bargaining is expected. Come in the morning and combine it with a walk past the Juma Masjid a few blocks away.
