George Airport is the main gateway to the eastern Garden Route, with multiple daily flights to Cape Town and Johannesburg on South African Airways, FlySafair, and Kulula. The airport is small — you can walk to your car hire from the terminal in under 3 minutes — and remarkably unstressed compared to the main South African airports. Flying in rather than driving the 400 kilometres from Cape Town saves half a day and is often cheaper than it looks.
